The Susky Scoop News
This past year, I founded The Susky Scoop, Susquehanna University’s first student-run news broadcast. With the help of a talented team of students and my academic advisor Professor Foltz, I have gained direct experience building and leading a station from the ground up. In this position, I wanted to help create opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in a professional newsroom environment, alongside the many opportunities available on campus within sports and radio. Through this role, I am conducting research on campus and community events, producing broadcast packages, writing and editing news scripts, coordinating interviews, and managing production schedules. The interest in The Susky Scoop has led to it becoming a practicum credit opportunity for broadcasting majors. The course will begin this fall semester one day a week to start. The Scoop is growing into an outlet of experience for future students pursuing careers in journalism and broadcasting. I am very proud of all we have accomplished so far, and I look forward to growing the station this upcoming semester.
